as you know, the sfmta has entered into a $233 million contract to construct the tunnels. the tunnel contract is currently on schedule and on budget and any delays to the tunnel contractor exposed the agency to significant financial risk of a contractor claim. now to walk you through the options as shown on the slide. now, the project staff evaluated several options for the tbm including leaving the tbms in the ground. now, bearing the tbms would require removing some of the tbm's internal components and encapsulating the balance of the machine in concrete to guard it from future settlement as the machineses deteriorate underground. leaving the tbms in the ground would impede the future extension of a subway into north beach. as the encapsulated tbms would likely have to be removed to extend the tunnels or construct an underground station. removing the encapsulated tbms at a later date is more difficult disruptive and more expensive than removing them at the conclusion of the central subway tunneling as currently planned. option 1, the retrieval shaft is approximately 200

we are including book slip notices in fast track quarterly summaries and also the sfmta rpp program, renewal notices. we're using the existing meters by the plate inside the dome as well as stickers, decals on the meter face itself to notify the public of this upcoming change. and we are also issuing announcements through press releases at all of our social media outlets and our sfmta website. and we also will be doing a mass e-mail blast announcement to the various parties, stakeholders, including the board of supervisors, merchants, neighborhood groups, civic and religious organizations. excuse me. we also plan to have our parking control officers after the january 6 date to have a three-week basically grace period starting on january 6, 13th and also the 20th. and those three sundays we will not be citing formally violations, but instead issuing a friendly courtesy notices of the violation and the need to start complying. again, the decals on the meters of the new hours and the enforcement times will stay put on the meters. we have also met at your suggestion with a panel of relig

this is my second time around as the capacity of sfmta and it is a pleasure to be here and served in the capacity some seven years ago and departed and became the directive of another agency in the central valley and i have been honored enough to be allowed to come back and serve in this capacity again. i want this body to know that we have heard many of the comments that were made today but both the public and the union. we certainly understand those comments and, we do not take them lightly. we have a significant purpose in this community, and we are working very hard to meet all of the needs of our riders daily. it is a complex, undertaking a balancing act, between operations and maintenance. providing service as a carrier of probably the largest number of persons per day in the bay area. so, i come here first and foremost to say thank you to this body for providing guidance and certainly funding for many of the projects that we undertake as we go forward. i also come to this afternoon i must do this to acknowledge my colleague, louis who and i go back over 20 years of service to
